Greetings all:
Here is a message from George Spector regarding his father's musical
compositions of Hardy-related work:
Cheers,
RM
_____________
Dear Rosemarie Morgan,
My father Irwin Spector was a composer and musicologist. One of his vocal
works
is based on Thomas Hardy's At Casterbridge Fair. A complete score is available
and a midi file of the work along with information about my father can be
found
on his website, http://www.home.earthlink.net/~irwin_spector/irwin.htm.
I have included mp3 samples of the work recorded many years ago. In May of
this
year the work was performed again at Ohio State University. I have a video of
that performance.
If you know of anyone interested in performing this work please contact me.
Thank you,
George Spector

It's a bit late for Christmas music, but I thought you might be interested to learn
that Anonymous 4 has just released what I think will be their final CD, entitled
Wolcom Yule. Not only is it filled with English and Celtic traditional tunes,
including a goose bump inducing arrangement of Blake's "The Lamb", but the very
first song is "Awake, and Join the Cheerful Choir". The liner notes mention Hardy's
Under the Greenwood Tree at some length and the provenance for the arrangement
is The Puddletown MSS, Dorset County Records Office.
Cheers!
