HARDY FORUM ARCHIVE H02007 1/2/02 "JANUARY 2002 NOTES AND QUERIES" ================================================================== From: "J Manc" Subject: technique in Hardy Date: Tue, 01 Jan 2002 21:49:41 +0000 Does anybody know a good article (on the internet if possible) about Hardy's technique to write a novel? What is typical for Hardy's writing technique (for novels) or what are the most common features of his novel structures? Thanks a lot. Joseph Manconi ========== From: "Alan Shelston" Subject: Re: A Pair of Blues Eyes Date: Thu, 3 Jan 2002 10:14:54 -0000 Dear Joseph, You could try the web-site of Mitsu Matsuoka (University of nagoya), who is very knowledgeable on Anglo-Japanese literary topics. There is a lot of work done on Hardy in Japan, and Mitsu has many Anglophile contacts. I would suggest that you ask him to pass on your query to the appropriate party. I don't know . It seems a periodical among a very limited member. I'll try to ask some of my friends, but I have no good view at present as it is too old article." Good Luck! Date: Thu, 17 Jan 2002 11:20:54 +0100 : Dear Sir, Thank you for your email. I am not sure how you got hold of my email address, especially as I am not a publisher and have no catalogue or samples. I did write two practice books for FCE. The two books covewred two parts of the syllabus. Two books written by other people covered the rest of the syllabus. If required, I could supply you with a number of these books. Otherwise, you may like to contact Bell who have formed all four books into a practice course which is available online. Their web page is www.bellenglish.com Best wishes, Brian Orpet ========== Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 18:19:32 -0600 From: Bill Morgan Subject: Late entry in the contest? I see that someone is offering one of Hardy's novels on ebay under the auction title: OLD NOVEL-ADVENTURE WESTERN-THOMAS HARDY OLDE Curious to see which novel might be seen this way, I checked, and to my surprise found that the seller is auctioning a 1922 student's edition of . . . The Return of the Native! Clym, Damon, Diggory and Eustacia armed and on horseback? Mrs. Yeobright bitten by a sidewinder? Perhaps this is a misguided late entry for Rosemarie's contest from last month. cheers, Bill Morgan ==========
