HARDY FORUM ARCHIVE H01095 12/2/01 "DECEMBER 2001 ANNOUNCEMENTS" ================================================================ Date: Sun, 02 Dec 2001 20:53:49 -0600 From: Bill Morgan Subject: TTHA Poem(s) of the Month for December Earlier today I posted Hardy's "Lausanne: In Gibbon's Old Garden" and "George Meredith, 1828-1909" as the TTHA Poems of the Month for December, 2001. This discussion will be the fifth and last in a series dedicated to Hardy's poetic tributes to his fellow writers. I invite your contributions to a month-long, on-line conversation about these two commentaries on the work of two of Hardy's favorite writers, one a predecessor, the other a friend and older contemporary. You can find the TTHA Poem of the Month Discussion by following the links from the main TTHA page at http://www.yale.edu/hardysoc/Welcome/welcomet.htm or by going directly to http://netforum.ilstu.edu/cgi-bin/netforum/ths/a/1/ Whichever route you take, when you arrive at the Poem of the Month site, you will encounter a program called NetForum which will give you the opportunity to read the poems as well as any comments they may have generated, compose a response, preview your response, edit it further if you wish, and then post it by using the button labeled Post the Message. (*DON'T use the Reset Message button*; you will lose your work.) If you are composing an intricate or long response, you may want to prepare your message in a word processing program, then copy it to your clipboard before pasting it into the message area of NetForum. And if you prefer, feel free to send me your contribution as an e-mail, and I will post it for you: wwmorgan@ilstu.edu. The discussions for February, 1998 through November 1999 have been "closed" and their contents edited and published in *The Hardy Review* [I:1 (July 1998) and 2:1 (Summer 1999)]. Likewise, the conversations from 1999 about the "Emma" poems have been published as the second of the TTHA Occasional Series. And those concerning "Channel Firing," "Satires of Circumstance in 15 Glimpses," "After the Visit," "To Meet, or Otherwise," and "A Singer Asleep" have been published in *The Hardy Review*, III (Summer 2000). All of these publications are available and may be ordered using a form available at the main TTHA page (see the URL above). The discussions of "Nature's Questioning," "The Mother Mourns," "The Subalterns," "The Lacking Sense," "In a Wood," "To Outer Nature," "June Leaves and Autumn," "Wagtail and Baby," "On a Midsummer Eve," "Afterwards," "Shut Out That Moon," "The Last Chrysanthemum," "The Year's Awakening," "The Night of the Dance" "The Dark-Eyed Gentleman," "She At His Funeral," "Her Confession," "Tess's Lament," "The Pine-Planters," "The Pink Frock," "The Beauty," "I Rose and Went to Rou'tor Town," "An Upbraiding," "The Chapel-Organist," "A Sunday-Morning Tragedy," "A Trampwoman's Tragedy," "The Last Signal," "Rome: At the Pyramid of Cestius Near the Graves of Shelley and Keats," "Shelley's Skylark," "At a House in Hampstead," "At Lulworth Cove a Century Back," and "To Shakespeare After Three Hundred Years" (January 2000 through November 2001), however, are still open, and your contributions are invited. Welcome to the December 2001 TTHA Poem of the Month Discussion. cheers, Bill Morgan ========== Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2001 07:31:21 -0800 From: Betty Cortus Subject: REMINDER Dear All, Once again it is time for me to repeat intructions for members about to change their Internet Service Provider, or wishing to unsubscribe from this list. The same virus which Patricia identified yesterday seems to be multiplying itself. It has turned up twice on the HARDY-L-request site. Fortunately our fire wall removed it both times, but do please be careful about opening suspicious attachments. This message comes a little tardily I'm afraid (I was so busy reviewing the book at the time of its publication that I overlooked giving it public notice on the Forum), but this message comes, nonetheless, with much appreciation of Shanta's work and of her remarkable academic progress -- now Reader in the Dept of English at Jadavpur University, Calcutta. For further details of Shanta's work please go to TTHA's *News Updates* where there is a posting, provided by her, of works accomplished by Ph.D researchers in India on Hardy. See also TTHA's Vice Presidents' box: http://www.yale.edu/hardysoc/VPBOX/vpbox.htm TTHA will also provide a review of *Ambivalence in Hardy* on its forthcoming *Reviews* page. May Shanta continue to enjoy the greatest success in her career. Congratulations, and with every good wish, Rosemarie Morgan (President) ========== Resent-Date: Fri, 28 Dec 2001 12:34:30 -0800 X-Authentication-Warning: coyote.csusm.edu: list set sender to HARDY-L-request@coyote.csusm.edu using -f X-Sender: rm82@rm82.mail.yale.edu Date: Fri, 28 Dec 2001 14:43:55 -0500 To: HARDY-L@csusm.edu From: Rosemarie Morgan Subject: Re: Hardy Conference 2002 Mime-Version: 1.0 Resent-From: HARDY-L@csusm.edu X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/2060 Reply-To: HARDY-L@csusm.edu X-Loop: HARDY-L@coyote.csusm.edu Precedence: list Reply-To: Status: Greetings All: I've had several inquiries concerning the Hardy International Conference in July at Dorchester but unfortunately TTHA hasn't yet received all the necessary information from the Conference organisers regarding lecture titles, accommodation etc. This is all I can offer for now (further information should be arriving from Dorchester later today -- I will post it immediately).
