HARDY FORUM ARCHIVE H01092 11/6/01 "SOTHEBY'S SALE CONTINUED" ============================================================== From: "helen.gibson" Subject: Fred. Adams collection - Sotheby's sale - 7 November Date: Tue, 6 Nov 2001 23:24:39 -0000 Well, tomorrow's the day! The Frederick B. Adams collection of Hardy books goes under the hammer, and we hope that as much as possible can be acquired by the Dorset County Museum. Time is running out for last minute donations! The response to the appeal has been remarkable - sadly not enough to secure the whole collection, but generous donations have swelled the fund available for purchases. I don't have the final figure, but it is considerable. We have just returned from a wine-tasting in Dorchester, where I sat next to a local man who had just sent in £200 - so many individuals have given. When we have any news of the auction, we will let you know. The Lot prices will be on the Sotheby's website - www.sothebys.com All best wishes, Helen Gibson ========== Date: Tue, 06 Nov 2001 19:28:58 -0500 From: Rosemarie Morgan Subject: Re: Fred. Adams collection - Sotheby's sale - 7 November Exciting! Thank you Helen. Do keep us posted. And every good wish to Richard de Peyer at the Dorset County Museum for what is now almost "tomorrow"s Hardy event in London. Cheers, Rosemarie ========== Date: Wed, 07 Nov 2001 14:54:41 -0500 From: Rosemarie Morgan Subject: News of Sotheby's sale - 7 November I Greetings all!
