HARDY FORUM ARCHIVE H01068 7/27/01 "HARDY RECORDINGS QUESTION" ================================================================= Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2001 16:00:05 -0400 From: Don Ulin Subject: Hardy recordings Hello, I'm new to the listserv, having written a dissertation chapter on Hardy (Indiana University, 1998), spent some time last summer immersed in the Dorset County Museum's library, and now committed myself to teaching an undergraduate course on Hardy this fall. What I'm wondering is whether anyone can recommend (if they exist and are in print) any recordings of Hardy reading his own work. I should think they would be available, but I'm guess members of this listserv would be good sources of information about where to look for the best material. Thanks, Don Ulin Univ. of Pittsburgh at Bradford ========== Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2001 19:01:49 -0400 From: Rosemarie Morgan Subject: Re: Hardy recordings ooops! I think I trashed my last note-- just to say, Don, that there is no record of any TH recording, unfortunately. Perhaps, if the Tennyson readings are anything to go by, one must have loved the sound of one's own voice to have subjected it to all that crackle and fade-out. Richard Burton's reading of TH poems is, however, wondrous! And available. I recommend it wholeheartedly. Good luck! Cheers, RM ==========
