HARDY FORUM ARCHIVE H0073 9/17/00 "VICTORIAN GREAT SURVIVOR QUESTION" =========================================================== From: Martin Ray Sender: enl090@abdn.ac.uk Subject: Re: great survivors Date: Sun, 17 Sep 2000 15:57:42 -0400 (EDT) Hello everyone I've just come across a description of Hardy in a 1922 review as 'one of the two greatest survivors of the Victorian period'. I wonder if the other survivor referred to here is H's old mate, Lord Morley, who lived until 1923? Or am I overlooking somebody startlingly obvious? Yes, I'm sure you're right that the reference is to Robert Bridges. Thanks again Martin Dr Martin Ray Department of English University of Aberdeen Aberdeen Scotland, UK m.ray@abdn.ac.uk ==========
