hello. i am doing a research paper on Thomas Hardy and the affects of his 
family life, and England's society on his writings. (especially Tess.. and 
The return of the native) I was wondering if more information, other than

Hi,

	From your description of your paper, it sounds to me as if you need to
look at some of the biographies of Hardy.  I think I would recommend 

		James Gibson, *Thomas Hardy: A Literary Life*

				and

		Michael Millgate, *Thomas Hardy: A Biography*

You might also look at *The Life and Work of Thomas Hardy*, ed. Michael
Millgate, which is actually Hardy's autobiography.

How about any of the many biographies available in print (book form, not the
web) on Hardy, such as those by Michael  Millgate, Robert Gittings, or Hardy's
own autobiography (edited by Millgate, and under the "authorship" of Hardy's
widow).   There is plenty out there, but more is to be found in traditional
journal
and book forms than on the web, great source though it might be for some
things.
