HARDY FORUM ARCHIVE H0014 2/13/00 "HARDY'S FAMILY LIFE QUESTION" ======================================================== From: ILoveJBJ37@aol.com> Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 21:01:51 EST Subject: Hardy's Family Live Question hello. i am doing a research paper on Thomas Hardy and the affects of his family life, and England's society on his writings. (especially Tess.. and The return of the native) I was wondering if more information, other than that on the web (i've already checked) could be sent to me . please respond. ========== Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 20:48:47 -0600 From: Bill Morgan Subject: Re: Hardy Family Life Question Hi, From your description of your paper, it sounds to me as if you need to look at some of the biographies of Hardy. I think I would recommend James Gibson, *Thomas Hardy: A Literary Life* and Michael Millgate, *Thomas Hardy: A Biography* You might also look at *The Life and Work of Thomas Hardy*, ed. Michael Millgate, which is actually Hardy's autobiography. Best of luck. cheers, WWM ========== Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 21:38:11 -0500 From: Shannon Rogers Subject: Re: Hardy Family Life Question How about any of the many biographies available in print (book form, not the web) on Hardy, such as those by Michael Millgate, Robert Gittings, or Hardy's own autobiography (edited by Millgate, and under the "authorship" of Hardy's widow). There is plenty out there, but more is to be found in traditional journal and book forms than on the web, great source though it might be for some things.
