I can't recall where the hold-up lay. We tried to persuade him to take a hard line with M -- re., the rotten habit they have of remaindering books almost as soon as they are out (which was the fate of Jim's "A Literary Life"). His phone number as listed on the THSNA Vice Presidents' Page (VP BOX), is now also a fax number so you could approach him directly about these matters and the William Archer interview (mentioned on page 147 pf "Literary Lives"). Incidentally if you send a sterling cheque (re the membership thing) please make it out to The Thomas Hardy Society -- THSNA currently has been making the dual membership transactions in a rather complicated way (but the above would work well -- thanks). There have been delays over copyright, but he is now hoping that Hardy: Interviews and Recollections will be published in time for the next TH Conference in July, 1998.
